Description

This alluvial fan was created during the great Lawn Lake floods of 1982. An alluvial fan occurs when fast flowing water, in this case a flooded river, disperses onto flatter land and deposits the sediment and debris that it was transporting.

This natural phenomena makes for an interesting spectacle and features various veins of the Roaring River as it cascades down the rocks.

There are parking areas on both sides of this short trail, making it a quick and easy diversion during a drive through the park.

Great hike! The water is high there are lots of great spots to relax and enjoy the view. We stopped and had a picnic by the river-1.5 miles in.
