Private property surrounds this trail. Please stay on the trail. Boone United Methodist Church created this trail to be enjoyed by the whole community. Day time usage only, no camping.

Description

Short but stout. The BUT Loop begins and ends at Boone United Methodist Church. Look for the trail kiosk at the end of the parking lot, across from playground. Proceed over the footbridge and past the Boy Scout shelter. At the small meadow with the cross and fire pit, the trail picks up again on the far left corner.

Up, up, and away you go! Enjoy the mature hardwood forest and let the hum of town life disappear below you. At just over a mile, the trail splits and forms an upper loop (Loft Loop). Future trail construction will add another loop off of the Loft. Note: The trail does not summit Howard Knob.

Flora & Fauna

Keep your eyes peeled for deer and turkey amidst the beautiful hardwood forest.
