This wide, mellow trail connects the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to the gateway town of Tusayan. It provides a more environmentally friendly, non-motorized alternative to driving. Part of the trail closest to the Grand Canyon visitor center is paved, the remaining approximately 60% of the length to Tusayan is packed gravel.

Pick up the trail from the new, south-most parking lot at the Mather Point Grand Canyon Visitor Center. If you're having trouble locating it, look for the paved path near Bright Angels Bicycles, head south through the parking area, cross the S. Entrance road and continue south, straight through the intersection with the Village Greenway paved path. Once on the Tusayan Greenway, your navigation worries are essentially over as this trail follows the western side of Hwy 180 at a distance, never crossing it. There are few other intersections on this snaking route through pine forest. The one notable exception to this is the Mather Campground Connector trail which provides access and a shortcut to campers. Otherwise, relax and enjoy this meandering cruise.

Bikes and equestrians are also allowed on this trail. One fun option is to ride or hike the trail downhill starting at the visitor center and then take the free national park shuttle bus back up to the visitor center. Added bonus: park visitors who walk or ride a bike into the park pay a $12 admission fee. It costs $25 to drive a car in.
