From the top of the Homestake chairlift near the Silver Lake Lodge base area, follow the Sultan Connection ski run downhill towards the east. The grade is gradual and pretty gentle. This wide, sunny service road passes through aspen groves and denser forest before reaching the base of the Sultan Express chairlift. From here the trail makes a couple of switchbacks uphill to arrive at the scenic deck and overlook. This is where the Sultan Connection trail ends and the Sultan Out and Back begins.
